Customizing the Background Color of a Document Template

How to adjust the background color of tombstones, bios, case studies, and other content created in the Documents App

When creating a template in the Documents App, you have the ability to apply a color or transparent background to the canvas. By default the canvas background is white. To adjust the background color navigate to the Page tab in the document template.

To perform this action you must have Design level permissions.

Steps to update background color:

  1. In the Documents App click on the Manage Templates button located on the right side of the screen.
  2. Select the desired template or create a new template.
  3. On the right side of your screen, you’ll see two tabs: Layers and Page. Select Page to access the templates page settings.
  4. Under the Background section select the paint can icon to enter the custom background color or select a transparent background.

Pro Tip: If a transparent background is desired, it is recommended to design the template on a colored background so that you can clearly see how the layers appear on your canvas. Once the template design is final, change the background color to transparent as a final design step.
